Maersk, the world's largest container shipping company, recently announced that it has entered the China-Europe freight train business. Its first train containing chemicals has already departed from Spain to China, and will increase this business in the future.
According to the German Economic Weekly on June 22, Maersk’s transportation route showed that in May, cargo trucks were transported from Cartagena, Spain to Madrid, and then a train with 40 containers passed through Duisburg, Germany and horses in Poland. Rasevic and other places plan to arrive in Guangzhou at the end of June. Ma Lin, the company's train transportation project leader, said that maritime transportation now often encounters logistics bottlenecks. As an alternative solution, the China-Europe train service is a good choice, which can provide added value by improving the flexibility of the supply chain. Maersk believes that it is easier for train transportation to achieve delivery according to a predetermined schedule. The company has established a partnership with the German railway operator RTSB and will continue to expand train transportation services in the future.
Austrian ORF TV reported on the 22nd that the first "Chinese train" arrived at the Graz freight center in Austria on the 21st. Graz is now also part of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative. Austrian Railways stated that due to the saturation of maritime transport, the China-Europe Express has truly prospered. Austrian shipments to China are mainly cars, consumer goods and luxury goods.
