On May 21st, China Classification Society (CCS) and Shanghai Municipal Commission of Communications carried out a thematic exchange on "Shanghai International Shipping Center Low-Carbon Development". Experts from CCS Science and Technology Innovation Test Center, Science and Technology and Information Office, International Affairs Office, Shanghai Branch, Shanghai Institute of Standards, Wuhan Institute of Standards and Quality Certification Corporation (CCSC) participated in the exchange via video.
At the meeting, many CCS experts successively introduced the development situation of international carbon emission reduction, the technical path to achieve the goal of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality", and the preliminary results of CCS's research work on "carbon peak and carbon neutrality". The person in charge of the Shipping Department of the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Committee introduced the progress of the construction of the Shanghai International Shipping Center and the overall idea of advancing the research work of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality". Participating experts launched a lively discussion on the theme of the meeting.
Recently, Shanghai has taken the lead in putting forward the long-term goal of achieving a peak carbon emission by 2025. CCS will follow up with the "Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality" cooperation with the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission as another concrete practical measure to start a new journey of "government trust, industry satisfaction, international leading" classification society during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period. Further intensify the cooperation mechanism, focus on key frontier leading technologies, strengthen the application and sharing of results, and provide technical support for the construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center and the realization of the goal of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality" in water transportation.
